Hyundai Motor said Wednesday it has launched a new commercial electric delivery vehicle model with expanded functionality that can be tailored to various business services and solutions.
The ST1 has been released in two variants -- the ST1 Cargo and ST1 Cargo Refrigerated -- and can be expanded into various forms according to its usage purposes based on the models' chassis-cab units.
According to Hyundai, the ST1 can be tailored to various uses, including police operation vehicles, emergency rescue vehicles and camping cars, as well as other diverse uses for new business ventures, such as mobile electric bike charging stations.
The ST1's chassis-cab unit is equipped with plug and play technology that allows customers to efficiently utilize vehicle power and communication data according to their business needs.
Hyundai has also allowed open API (application programming interfaces) implementation in the ST1, enabling customers to access and utilize various vehicle data for their needs.
The ST1 has an infotainment system based on Google's Android operating system, providing environment where customers can integrate various applications into the vehicle.
For driving comfort, Hyundai said it has applied highly rigid subframe members to the front wheels of the ST1 variants, along with sound-absorbing materials on the dashboard and door trims.
Hyundai said it has consulted with domestic logistics and retail companies for the development of the ST1.
Jeong Yoo-seok, head of Hyundai's domestic business division, said the company aims to provide a pleasant mobility experience with the ST1 and software optimized for various customer businesses. (Yonhap)
