Swedish premium electric carmaker Polestar said Friday it will launch the Polestar 4 SUV coupe in South Korea in June to gain a share in the local electric vehicle market.
The coupe-like Polestar 4 SUV is the Swedish EV maker's second model to be sold in Korea after the Polestar 2, which was launched here in January 2022.
Polestar aims to begin delivering the Polestar 4, which is manufactured in its plant in China, to Korean customers in October, the company said in a statement.
"The Polestar 4 will also be rolled out at Renault Korea Motors' plant in Busan late next year for domestic sales and exports to the North American markets," a company spokesperson said.
The model is equipped with a 100 kWh lithium-ion battery and can reach from zero to 100 kph in less than 4 seconds, the statement said.
Details of its driving range, prices and other specifications will be released later, the spokesperson said.
South Korea is one of the five Asian markets that Polestar has tapped into for expansion, along with Singapore, Hong Kong, Australia and New Zealand. (Yonhap)
