The South Korean antitrust regulator said Tuesday it approved US software company Ansys, Inc.'s acquisition of a minority stake in Safe Parent, Inc. which owns the world's largest crash test dummy manufacturer of Humanetics.
Ansys, which develops engineering simulation software, intends to purchase a 34.68 percent stake in Safe Parent from Britain's private equity firm Bridgepoint.
Headquartered in Michigan, Humanetics is the world's No. 1 manufacturer of anthropomorphic test devices, commonly known as crash test dummies. Ansys has its headquarters based in Pennsylvania.
"Even after the potential acquisition, Ansys will be Humanetics' second major shareholder, and Bridgepoint will continue to have the overall managerial rights as the largest stakeholder. So we don't see that the stock purchase will cause a dominant-subordinate relationship between Ansys and Humanetics," the Fair Trade Commission said in a release.
Ansys has said that it has sought to strengthen the partnership with Humanetics to further push innovation in the human safety engineering ecosystem. (Yonhap)
